DEFEATING Thoughts of Comparison & Competition

DEFEATING Thoughts of Comparison & Competition

You are scrolling through Instagram and you come across a picture of her. She’s in a bikini, she’s at the gym, she’s at her job, she’s killing the game at her side hustle. Wherever she is, all you know is you aren’t there and you aren’t her.

Isn’t it SO easy to become bitter at someone in seconds just because you FEEL like they are doing something better than you?! Sometimes it’s even subconscious. But it’s just enough to make us look at ourselves and say “I’m not doing enough.” Jealousy kicks in and our thoughts spiral. What was once a quiet morning is now filled with pride and distractions. Not only that, but what once was a friendship turns into a competition within seconds. How can we beat them? What can we post? SHEESH. Can you relate? It is something I still have to work to overcome every single day

Although this is a struggle, there are ways we can overcome it! It all starts with our behavior and our thoughts. We need a 180 turn from envious to encouraging! As difficult as it may be, be happy for her, tell her that she looks amazing in that outfit or congratulate her on the new job. We have to train ourselves to be the cheerleader for those around us or we will poison our relationships. Comparison is a silent killer, especially on social media.

Comparison is something we can not settle to be okay with. It will affect the way we lead our lives, our friendships and ultimately our hearts!

Challenge: When you see something that makes you feel “behind” or “not good enough” don’t let the bitter thoughts manifest. Take action! Creating a relationship with the people we aspire to be, will allow us to see their struggles and in the end will create a pure foundation of sisterhood and not of jealousy.
